I just fired up my home generator (briggs & stratton), and it sputters and bounces all over the place! Help?
When we last ran it we ran all the gas out of it. I just cleaned the spark plug with a wire brush, and checked the air filter, it's clean. Could the carb be fouled up? Is there something I can pour in the 1st tank of gas to help?
try running it for a while with it in open throttle if you can it may clear up,they will do this when they have set for a while without gas in the carb on them first they use to say don't let them set with gas in them now on the newer ones they recommend leaving some gas in them to keep the gaskets from drying out,i leave gas in my power washer and it starts up every time,id run it a while and see if it would clear up, if not you may have to remove the carb bowl and clean it out,it will have a white looking sediment in it, from drying out,that may have caused the needle valve to have got stuck on it,good luck.
