John Deere GX mowing deck problem?
I can not get my mower deck to go down on my John Deere GX 70 riding lawn mower. The handle seems to work OK but it doesn't make the deck move. I just got it back from the dealer who said he is going to charge me to come look at it and see if he forgot to hook up something. How would I know if they didn't hook everything up and how can I fix it myself? Please give me as much detail as you can. Thanks sooo much for your help.
My lawn mower is about seveteen years old. How do I adjust the cutting height knob. What tools are used to do this? If I try is it easily broken?
You just got it out of the shop and the guy wants to charge you for forgetting something he did? Id use another shop, or learn how to repair it yourself ( its how i learned). First off, put it on a level surface and get a birds eye veiw of the deck mechanisms, have a friend try and raise/lower the deck and see where the binding is. If need be remove the deck and check things out - see if the raising setup will work w/o the deck there. Basically a process of elimination. I would not pay this guy again to do something he shoulda done before giving it back to you ( like taking your vehicle to have the oil changed, y get it home, theres no oil in it and having them come out to add oil later). You probably need the chassis numbers ( near the rear of the tractor) to get the proper information.
